How long have you been mixing?:
For almost a year I've been doing some gigs, but just in the
past few month that I've been doing this more seriously.
What first got you into music and mixing?:
My friends mostly and the music itself! Maybe both together,
they always told me that I might be good at it and that I had
enough knowledge on drum & bass to be good at it!
What equipment do you use?:
I make my sets for my podcast using Traktor internal play, but
I'm starting to use CDJs.
What is the significance of your DJ name? / How did you get that
name?:
It's simply my last name and what everyone calls me ;)
Who or what are your influences in music?:
I think I've always beens different that most of my friends when
I was younger. I was mostly influenced by my older sister that is
10 year older that me so I spent most of my time listening to her
cds. Mostly old school rock like The Doors, The Who and so on and
lots of grunge bands got me to see different perspective of music
at young age. Then as I was getting older I expanded my horizons
and let electronic music get in, stuff like The Prodigy, Cristal
Method and soft and chill bands as well like Lamb, Thievory
Corporation, Koop, ut always with fast rock and metal bands like
Metallica and that was what got me into fast beats. Later on and
mostly influence by my closest friends and got into the 70s funk
and disco where i got lots of bases on vocals and soulful melodies.
Guys like James Brown, Chaka Khan, Chic etc. Recently I've been
listening to a lost or house music from Djs like Dennis Ferrer,
Erick Morillo, Louie Vega and that got into deeper sounds. And
finally inside drum & bass my some of my refences are Omni
Trio, Logistics and most of Hospitality crew!
What do you look for in a beat?:
BASS! A massive bassline is what really matters on a dnb track
in my opinion. Other than that I enjoy tracks with soul and nice
vocals.
What was the last vinyl / CD you bought?:
Alex Perez - 1984.
What is your favorite vinyl / CD of the month and also of all
time?:
Its hard to say one... But I might shoot It's a Jazz Thing by
Utah Jazz for something recent...
Do you produce your own music?:
Maybe one day :P
What software / equipment do you use to produce your music?:
-
Do you host any regular events?:
My Podcast: Cruz's Drum & Bass Podcast ;)
What other DJ or producer do you rate at the moment if any?:
-
What plans do you have in the future for yourself?:
Where ever the wind takes me.
Anything else you would like to add -:
Peace, Love and lots and lots of music.
