Welcome to Futurednb Mad Influence. Introduce yourself,
I'm J. Meyers also known as (DJ) Mad Influence. Ive been a turntablist for over 15 years, a producer for 10... I am also founder of Hyperformula Music.
Mad Influence was a name that derived from my live DJ sets b/c I was always playing multi-genre tunes for the masses... fusing Hip-hop / DnB (called Jungle then) as well as House & Breaks / Garage... Metal / Triphop / Industrial, etc etc.
Even my remixes & production (which you can find easliy online if you look in the right places) isnt really "genre defined". Therefore, the name comes fro the influence of music in my life & the influence I have on others.
I am originally from New Jersey, but reside in Charlotte, NC. An amazing melting pot of multi-culrtural music & a very thriving EDM scene. I am extremely proud of the people I work with daily there, abroad and the kids in our lil scene.
It is beautiful to say the least.
It's great to have you back Mad Influence. What has been your greatest highlight since your were last In Session #032?
Being able to play shows for people of all ages, more often..
Also, being more widely recognized not just as a producer / remixer & label owner... but a turntablist as well. Thanks to your site and others. My live shows consist of all styles of Bass Music - It is usually severely entertaining or so I have heard.
Id like to go on tour soon and take my skills and present them to the world.
How would you discribe your sound and mixing style?
Diverse. Technical... Im a perfectionist so, I struggle to work hard to make the live shows, my own tunes and studio DJ mixes as amazing as I possibly can!!
What equipment are you using for mixing, do you mix live vinyl or mp3's?
I mix on anything & everything. I prefer live vinyl on 1200s obviously but I can rock CDJs, Serato, Traktor, VDJ.. It doesnt matter. Any style, any genre any time lol.
Are you producing any music at the moment?
I do have a new album under way and I am also working with several artists worldwide on various projects. Artists like Argotec outta New York, Thrahma Selectah near San Diego, Eileen Mao in Taipei.. so on & so forth.
Have you played or hosted any memorable events recently?
Actually yes I was blessed to play a Grand Opening of a very nice venue here in the city called "The BASSment" (An old movie Theatre remodeled into a huge club)...
I have another show there Jan 14th, 2012. Also, I was a guest panelist / speaker & performer at Making The Right Moves Entertainent Conference, with Terrence J & others this past July.
